Maternal fructose intake modulates cholesterol metabolism in response to a western diet in the offspring

چکیده
Fructose consumption has increased during the last decades, while a simultaneous rise in incidence of pathologies such as type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome also taken place. Although there is evidence that fructose can cause alterations offspring related to development aforementioned diseases, exposure pregnancy not contraindicated for women. This effect explained by concept foetal programming, which suggests changes occur embryogenic stages are permanent adult, due maternal health, diet other environmental factors. Therefore, on cholesterol metabolism mothers fed with or without gestation was studied. In addition, progeny received different diets: (with supplementation cholesterol) tagatose solutions. Tagatose non-HDL water-fed mothers, whereas dampened this effect, indicating programming. feeding atherogenic indices decreasing HDL-cholesterol concentration increasing triglycerides levels. On hand, addition caused an increase total change its distribution: higher lower HDL cholesterol, independently feeding. indices. Ultimately, results indicate influenced both consumption, subsequent intake (alone combination offspring.

Maternal High Fructose Intake Increases the Vulnerability to Post-Weaning High-Fat Diet-Induced Programmed Hypertension in Male Offspring
Widespread consumption of high-fructose and high-fat diets relates to the global epidemic of hypertension. Hypertension may originate from early life by a combination of prenatal and postnatal nutritional insults. We examined whether maternal high-fructose diet increases vulnerability to post-weaning high-fructose or high-fat diets induced hypertension in adult offspring and determined the unde...
متن کاملMaternal and postweaning diet interaction alters hypothalamic gene expression and modulates response to a high-fat diet in male offspring.
Epidemiological data and results from animal studies indicate that imbalances in maternal nutrition impact the expression of metabolic disorders in the offspring. We tested the hypothesis that consumption of excess saturated fats during pregnancy and lactation contributes to adult metabolic dysfunction and that these disturbances can be further influenced by the postweaning diet. Adult male off...

Hypertension originates from early-life insults by so-called "developmental origins of health and disease" (DOHaD). Studies performed in the previous few decades indicate that fructose consumption is associated with an increase in hypertension rate. It is emerging field that tends to unfold the nutrient-gene interactions of maternal high-fructose (HF) intake on the offspring which links renal p...
متن کاملExcess maternal salt or fructose intake programmes sex-specific, stress- and fructose-sensitive hypertension in the offspring.
The Western diet is typically high in salt and fructose, which have pressor activity. Maternal diet can affect offspring blood pressure, but the extent to which maternal intake of excess salt and fructose may influence cardiovascular function of the offspring is unknown. We sought to determine the effect of moderate maternal dietary intake of salt and/or fructose on resting and stimulated cardi...
